Jason G. Racette, PLS Biography

Jason G. Racette is a professional land surveyor licensed to practice in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine, and an Accident Reconstructionist, accredited by The Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.  Mr. Racette graduated from the University of Maine 1993, with a bachelor’s degree in Surveying Engineering.  Mr. Racette worked for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) as a land surveyor between his junior and senior years of college and was hired by the BLM as a Cadastral Surveyor following graduation.

Mr. Racette performed boundary surveys in many states while working for BLM including Maine, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, South Carolina, Wisconsin, and the District of Columbia.  Mr. Racette managed the BLM’s Project Office in Springfield, Virginia, from 1995 to 1999, surveying the national parks in and around Washington, DC.  Some of Mr. Racette’s more interesting surveys include Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park, West Virginia, where he retraced the boundaries of property formerly owned by General George Washington and a boundary survey of the right-of-way of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway which included more than thirty-nine miles of monumented boundary.

Mr. Racette performed legal and technical review of BLM cadastral surveys (boundary surveys) from 1999 to 2001, and then moved to BLM headquarters in Washington, DC, where he worked from 2001 to 2007, as a staff member for the Chief Cadastral Surveyor, formerly known as the Surveyor General of the United States.

Mr. Racette left federal service in February 2007, to begin his own land surveying firm, Boundary Consulting Experts, LLC, located in New Britain, Connecticut.  Mr. Racette’s firm specializes in providing land surveying services commonly required by individuals, corporations, and municipalities interested in purchasing land, building a home or addition, locating an easement or right-of-way, or simply locating or reestablishing property boundaries.

Mr. Racette is an adjunct faculty member at Central Connecticut State University and is involved in professional development, teaching a portion of the Massachusetts Professional Land Surveyors Exam review course offered by the Massachusetts Association of Land Surveyors and Civil Engineers (MALSCE).  Mr. Racette works with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES), the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), serves on the University of Maine’s Surveying Engineering Technology Industrial Advisory Committee, and is the Second Vice President for the Connecticut Association of Land Surveyors (CALS).

Mr. Racette resides in New Britain, Connecticut with his wife Ria.
